Florida holds onto its top ranking in the 4.25.16 Bassford College Baseball Rankings. Louisville and Miami took a few steps back in the rankings this week after .500 or lower showings this past week. Their losses were Texas A&M, Florida State and South Carolina’s gains as the latter two teams drove up at least 10 positions on the charts to occupy their spots in the top five this week.
The Florida Gators (34-6) take the top overall seed in the season’s first tournament projection. The Gators are tops in nearly every poll and have yet to show major weakness heading into the latter half of the college baseball season.
Florida takes back the top spot from South Carolina as the Gamecocks lose three out of four this past weekend while the Gators go undefeated in four games including a weekend sweep of Arkansas.
After reeling off five wins in six games—including their first two SEC-series wins against Auburn and #9 Vanderbilt—the LSU baseball team has lost two of their last three while allowing an average of 8 runs allowed in defeat during that stretch.
#1 South Carolina leaps overtop SEC East rival Florida for the top spot in this week’s Bassford Top 25 College Baseball Rankings. The Gamecocks hold a conference-leading record of 10-2 and the 2016 squad seems destined to tally the program’s seventh 50-win season. USC hasn’t been to Omaha in four years and hasn’t won it all since 2011 when the team won their second straight CWS Championship.
